Teacher Accused Of Inappropriate Conduct With Student In Naugatuck

A Connecticut teacher has been placed on leave as police investigate allegations that the educator had inappropriate contact with a student.

A criminal investigation has been launched at Naugatuck High School, after police learned of an incident involving a teacher and student. The nature of the “inappropriate contact” has not been disclosed.

The name of the teacher has not been released. Police were made aware of the allegation on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

On Thursday, the school district issued a statement regarding the incident.

"A teacher at Naugatuck High School has been placed on leave after the administration received reports alleging inappropriate relationships with students. The high school administration swiftly contacted the Department of Children and Families and the Naugatuck Police Department. The safety of our students is our highest priority. We take these matters seriously and will take appropriate action as the investigation unfolds.”

Police in Naugatuck issued a news release of their own, confirming the investigation.

"Naugatuck Police were notified on Jan. 23, by the Naugatuck School District of an allegation of inappropriate contact between a teacher and student(s). As a result of this allegation, a criminal investigation has been initiated and is currently ongoing by detectives of the Naugatuck Police Department. The case remains active and there is no other information for release at this time.”
